South Australian Tourism Commission – Tourism 101

March 2 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

A solid foundation for tourism success

Tourism 101 is a practical, introductory workshop, designed for new and emerging tourism operators, businesses exploring opportunities in tourism, and existing businesses looking to diversify into tourism or already engaging with visitors.

Delivered as a two-hour, in-region session, Tourism 101 breaks down the South Australian tourism landscape and how to get started in the industry with confidence. You will gain a clear understanding of who visits South Australia, what visitors are looking for, and how businesses like yours can succeed.

Tourism 101 is ideal if you are:

•    Exploring a tourism idea but not sure where to start
•    A business owner considering adding a visitor experience
•    New to tourism and wanting to understand the landscape
•   An existing business already interacting with visitors

Program overview

The session covers the fundamentals of tourism demand, visitor types, and industry structures, introduces the key organisations that support tourism businesses, and outlines the pathways available to help you grow and develop your idea. Content is tailored to your tourism region and informed by local insights, with time to ask questions and connect with others on a similar journey.

You will leave with a practical Tourism Readiness Checklist, a clearer sense of your next steps, and a better understanding of the support available to help you build capability and move forward.
